Upcoming Events
Most of us are rookies when it comes to talking about death—the thing we ALL have in common. Somewhere along the line, we’ve forgotten how much we gain by doing so in community with others willing to practice with us.
As a society, we’ve excelled at avoiding discussing dying and end-of-life until it’s too late for meaningful conversations and usually when we’re feeling our worst.
The Pre-Dead Social Club is working to change that trajectory.
We create opportunities for you to lean in, get curious and discuss things that matter most to you, as we all face our eventual end-of-life. The Pre-Dead Social Club meets you where you’re at. We hope one or some of the events below pique your interest and that you’ll join us in the near future.
Welcome to the die-a-logue!

Pre-Dead Social Club Member Tickets are $8 + $2.51 (EventBrite Fee)
Not-Yet-Member Tickets are $10 + $2.51 (EventBrite fee)
Most of us—when asked—say we’d like to die at home. Surrounded by comfort. Familiar faces, sounds, and smells. Maybe a pet at our feet. And yet, most of us don’t. Not because we changed our minds—but because we didn’t know how to make it happen. This roundtable is about that gap—the space between what we hope for and what actually happens. And why.
We get it. This is uncharted territory. You’ve never died before. And while we’ve learned from those who’ve died before us, we each need to blaze a trail that reflects what matters most—to us, and to those we care for.
During this roundtable we will explore what gets in the way, what helps us move forward, and how we can each play a part in closing that gap—whether we’re doing the caring, the coordinating, or simply hoping for a more peaceful path.

Wing-making Workshop
A Hands-on Creative Ritual for Honoring, Remembering and Letting Go
Not everyone wants to talk about death. Instead, sometimes we need to use our hands and create something that captures memories and feelings. The wings on the wooden figure in the photo carry with them sixty unique “feathers” that represent different times, places, people and moments that serve as a touchstone to honor someone (or a pet) who has died or is dying. If a picture is worth a thousand words, multiply that by sixty!
Join us for this small-group, reflective workshop (held in the main Gallery at 3S Artspace) and led by Bess Welden (of the Death Wings Project) and Laura Cleminson (of the Pre-Dead Social Club). It’s a creative opportunity to honor a death of any kind through a simple art project, using paper and fabric to create a set of mini-wings that promise to spark memories to share, coax a smile and even start conversations that might not otherwise occur.

DEAD-LINES
DEAD-LINES a 2-Part Workshop (June 6 & 13) offered in partnership with The Seacoast Village Project. This 2-part, small group, creative writing workshop is for anyone looking to create an obituary or ode worth reading, worth remembering and worth sharing, but who struggles to get the words down on paper.
The workshop is limited to 12 participants.

"We Wish We Knew That!" Roundtable Discussion
PURCHASE TICKETS HERE Tickets are $10 + $2.51 Eventbrite Fee
The Pre-Dead Social Club will host "We Wish We Knew That!" - Insights and Ideas for Saying What Matters, When it Matters Most for Better Care. Attendees will be part of a thought-provoking roundtable discussion between healthcare professionals and caregivers about the roles we all play when it comes to our health and receiving the care we want, particularly when faced with a life limiting or terminal diagnosis.
During this event, real-life stories and personal insights revealed by both caregivers and members of the healthcare community will illuminate the things they wish they had known during healthcare conversations. They will also share suggestions to inspire and encourage each of us to take an active role in our own care coordination and explore strategies for having meaningful and clear discussions about our health and what is important to us.
